“tap and go” to pay subway fare
That’s right. You now have more options to pay your subway fare.
For those of us who consistently languish in frustration with Metrocard woes, the new pilot program OMNY hits parts of Brooklyn stations running on the 4/5 lines.
OMNY, which stands for One Metro New York is designed to help commuters save time by tapping their debit card or mobile wallet app to pay their subway fare.
If you commute on the Borough Hall, Nevins or Atlantic Ave/Barclay Center stations you’re sure to find them.
A total of 16 subway stations on the 4, 5, and 6 lines in Manhattan and Brooklyn between Grand Central-42 Street and Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center have rolled out first.
In addition to the subways all Staten Island buses are up and running.
Don’t worry, your Metrocard won’t become extinct until 2023 when the program begins in full.

Are you old enough to remember 1971 Myrtle Ave and Jay St?
While we bemoan the rapid development growth in Brooklyn today, would you even recognize the transformation of Myrtle Ave and Jay St that began the rise of MetroTech?
If you’re fortunate enough to be a person of a certain age, then perhaps you’ll remember the Mullins Furniture Store on Myrtle Ave in this picture.
If that doesn’t bring nostalgic memories, how about the green telephone booth on the corner?
